Be it a new home for a variety of sports organizations or a space for community events that add vibrancy to Thunder Bay life, this campaign’s mission is to advocate and support the City of Thunder Bay’s efforts to bring the Multi-Use Indoor Turf Facility to fruition.
Ten years ago, the Sports dome was a place where many sports and even events organizations started to use one facility as a new home or alternative space for their organizations’ needs. On the night of November 18th, 2016, a severe winter storm and heavy snowfall caused the Sports Dome to completely collapse, stranding thousands of players and users without a home.
They advocated; they petitioned; they rallied; and finally, after nearly ten years of fragmented play, they have been given a place to reconnect with what they lost. The City of Thunder Bay has announced the construction of a new Multi-Use Indoor Turf Facility. This space is destined to become not only a new home for displaced sports groups such as soccer, ultimate frisbee, flag football, cricket, and other sports, but also an exciting venue for community events and gatherings, including cultural celebrations, trade shows, concerts, and so much more.
At the request of the City of Thunder Bay, Let’s All Play is spearheading a community wide campaign to help offset the cost of this very important, and much needed, quality indoor community space. The Let’s All Play campaign needs everyone’s help in achieving this worthwhile goal to bring this space to life and our community together.
As its first fundraiser, the Let’s All Play committee has launched the Play it Forward Campaign for you to show your support. Stay tuned, as the committee is also planning a full slate of exciting fundraising opportunities and events for user groups, city residents, and businesses to participate in.
