Let’s All Play Launches “Play It Forward” Fundraising Campaign
Thunder Bay, ON — Let’s All Play, a new local non-profit that supports active living and community sport, launched its Play It Forward fundraising campaign today at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium. The campaign’s goal is to raise $100,000 to help build a new Multi-Use Indoor Turf Facility — a space where people of all ages can play, connect, and belong.
The need for a facility after the 2016 collapse of the city’s former sports dome left a major gap in recreation space. Four local sport groups — soccer, ultimate frisbee, football, and cricket — joined forces to create Let’s All Play and lead the effort to bring that sense of community back. The groups individually, and more recently together, lobbied for a new facility to house their groups and other similar groups needing a proper indoor facility.
“When the City approved the new facility in 2019, the city manager asked if we could help raise part of the funds — and we proudly stepped up,” said Michael Veneziale, President of Let’s All Play.
Let’s All Play is a community-led non-profit organization built on the idea that everyone deserves the opportunity to be active, connect, and belong. The group focuses on strengthening local sports and recreation by supporting programs and projects that bring people together. Further to its mandate, Let’s All Play will be the organization leading the promised fundraising campaigns.
Also launched today is Play it Forward, a peer-to-peer campaign where people can create teams of five to participate and have a chance to win fabulous prizes while raising funds to support the new indoor facility. The Play It Forward campaign invites individuals, sports teams, families, and businesses to take part by starting a fundraising team, making a donation, or sharing the campaign with others. Every contribution helps move the project closer to reality.
Businesses are also encouraged to support the campaign by providing prizes, becoming sponsors, or even creating their own teams. “This facility is not just for us, it’s for everyone.” said Richard Bosch, Board Member of Let’s All Play. “All net proceeds from the Play It Forward campaign will go to support the City of Thunder Bay Multi-Use Indoor Turf Facility.”
“We are reaching out to introduce Let’s All Play, but more importantly, ask the entire community to help us raise funds by supporting our Play It Forward campaign.”
